Internet Explorer Headed to a 360 Near You

    Mock-up by The Verge
Apparently, Microsoft is currently testing a modified version of Internet Explorer 9 for the Xbox 360. This is according to sources close to The Verge.

The present implementation includes voice search and gesture support for those of you with a Kinect peripheral. Kinect usage is "not mandatory" for those who were worried. There's no confirmation that IE will ever make its way into an official update or if they're merely testing the waters internally.

It rather begs the question though if something like this is absolutely necessary?

Yes it is ABOUT TIME. my GF and I own an Xbox and a PS3. The PS3 browser is one of the reasons that sold me on buying a PS3 when i did. I later found out, it's really slow, and laggy and its an overall piece of crap on the PS3.

The fact that they are branding the xbox browser as "internet exploer" means that it will have the same performance. That's really exciting !

Well... others would beg to differ on IE having Good performance, but if the PS3 is as bad as you say (I don't doubt you, mind you) it would be a hilarious thing to see IE as an "upgrade".

I've never used the browser in the PS3 and Wii, and I doubt I'll use this one.
