As being reported by a number of sites (via) today, it seems as though that come May 31, your purchased copy of Rock Band for iOS will simply stop working. No explanation was given by this move from EA.
In fact, the app is still up for purchase in the Apple App Store for $4.99 (USD) without a single mention anywhere about how the app is going to stop working in less than a month's time.
Pardon the French, but this is an incredibly dick move. The $4.99 price is just the tip of the iceberg. Should you be someone who also forked over another $10 or so for all of the add-on tracks, you have basically kissed your money goodbye.
EA has since updated their help site in response to this.
This really does not offer up any explanation as to why this is being done. Harmonix does not really have much of a say in the matter either.
This isn't the first time EA has pulled something like this with their mobile lineup. Less than a month ago, we reported how they pulled their Tetris app from the store, only to introduce a completely new Tetris app.

I've heard Rock Band will not be available after May 31. Is this true?
Yes, we will be suspending support of Rock Band after May 31 and focusing resources on other EA titles. We thank everyone for playing Rock Band, and we encourage you to explore some of the other exciting titles in our mobile line-up.
Can I still play Rock Band if I've already downloaded it?
The Rock Band servers will be live through May 31, 2012. If you have already downloaded the game, you can continue to play until then.
