I'm not sure why this happening but apparently Quake 4 is going to get a re-release on June 19 for the Xbox 360 and PC platforms. It will retail with a relatively cheap $20 (USD) price for both platforms.
Bethesda had this to say on the re-release of the game.
I suppose that's neat if you really cannot find a copy of the game anywhere, but chances are you can find a used copy just laying around at your local game retailer and probably for cheaper too.
The original game was released back in 2005 as a near launch title for the Xbox 360.
