  • Who Rigged an Online Petition Against Homophobia in EA's Games?

A hot topic that has appeared via Reddit finds that an online petition aimed at EA and LGBT bashers seems to have been hit with a spambot. The even more interesting note here is that many in the community believe it was EA themselves who set up the bot to propel the online petition to the 75,000 signatures that the poll was requesting to show their support of EA.

The signatures include such gems as Roland from Poland, Eden from Sweden, Olivia from Bolivia, Chad from Chad, Roman from Romania, and Mike from North Korea. Now, the petition has since been closed and a statement issued.

Thanks for standing up against homophobia.

More than 60,000 All Out members took action before our page came under attack from spammers. We've disabled the form, but want to assure everyone we've had no contact with EA regarding this campaign and are looking into the source of the spam.

Their full statement claims the bots were a "cyber attack by hackers" and still maintains that EA had no hand in the bot attack. Prior to the attack, over 60,000 people had already signed the petition, all of which seem to have actually been legitimate.

THIS IS WHY WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS! Or homo things? I dont know.Im sure all 60000 were legit, just like the 3000 402 signatures for MW2.How about we get together to get a swear filter put in games for ourselves so we can self regulate? I know thats asking too much.
