Counter-Strike Online 2 Announced by Nexon Korea and Valve

Remember Counter-Strike Online? Chances are, if you aren't from Korea or East Asia, then you probably haven't even been aware of its existence. Essentially it was a version of Counter-Strike built on the old Gldsrc engine supported by a micro-transaction payment model and used a customized version of the Steam back-end.

Anyway, it was announced yesterday that Nexon Korea and Valve are teaming up again for Counter-Strike Online 2. This seems like a good idea considering the first one often reached concurrent player counts of over 600,000 just between China, Taiwan and Korea.

Counter-Strike Online 2 will offer enhanced graphics, more realistic gameplay and powerful impact sensations powered by an enhanced version of the Source engine. The game will also feature various game modes enhancing its original game experience with new and improved environments, weapons, equipment customization and more.

Under the terms of the agreement, Nexon Korea will develop and be the exclusive publisher of Counter-Strike Online 2 in Japan, Korea, China and other areas in Southeast Asia. Nexon Korea intends to continue to leverage its proven development expertise and deep understanding of local markets to make Counter-Strike Online 2 one of the leading first-person shooter titles in the region.

We'll have more coverage on this if it's possible. Though I doubt there will be a huge rush of news on CSO2 for those of us in the States here.

Well I remember CS:O being announced ages ago, and Checking the IMFDB (Internet movie Firearms database, not to be confused with the famous IMDB of course) page for it weilds quite a few results actually. So yeah, its not that far fetched. They are probably just putting on the source engine, maybe with resources from Global offensive.

Not really. I think this is developed by some Korean company, with valve's blessing.

One of CS2’s highlights lies in its wide range of weapons. Different from other FPS which offers all sorts of weird arms, CS2 provides you with well-crafted guns and bombs that can find their roots in real life.here is some more info about it
