New Xbox 720 Rumor Says It Requires Always-on Net Connection

The latest rumor going around, this time by VG247 is that the next Xbox will require you to always be connected to the Internet in order to play a game in order to combat piracy. That doesn't seem too bad there.

Additional rumors talk about the hardware side of things, so let's take a look at what is being said.

    - Will have a Blu-ray drive
    - Dual GPU configuration
    - GPUs are "equivalent to AMD's 7000 line of videocards
    - Four to six cores for the Xbox 720 CPU: one for Kinect, one for the OS
    - Always on connection required
    - Next-gen Kinect built into the console
    - No mention of the new console until next year from Microsoft

Again, these are all just rumors so be sure to take things with a grain of salt.

I think you will need a connection to the net to register the game on your account, then you can play without connection. Otherwise they're shooting themselves in the foot.

How does requiring a connection combat piracy? I guess they didn't talk to Ubisoft?

I think I have stopped believing these rumours. They all seem to come out of the left field and seem too stupid even for microsoft and Sony.
