PlanetSide 2 Alpha Gameplay Highlights

A new video for PlanetSide 2, the "epic MMOFPS" coming from Sony Online Entertainment, showcases new gameplay elements. Shown off are air combat, vehicle combat, infantry combat, and probably combat for modes of transportation that have not yet been invented yet.

Again, keep in mind this is only alpha footage and is only guaranteed to look better as development continues.

Hmm, that looks a lot like a reskinned PS1, which can be played for free if I recall correctly.
I recognize all the vehicles, and the rest seems familiar too.

People didnt stop playing PS1 because it looked bad, the gameplay grew old and Sony messed to much with balance.
So just reskinning PS1 will not make a new game.

ETA: seems like PS1 is not free. I think sony may be a bit out of touch if they expect people to pay $15 a month for a 10 year old game.

IDK, A lot of people point to this game in the Battlelog forums when they are raging.

Of course, a lot of people in the battlelog forums are misinformed and very ignorant. So I guess a lot of people will buy it

Yep, real hardcore. All these unlocks and ranking ups and all that and yet someone just starting the game will have equal stuff to someone who has ranked up a lot?

You "think"?, i'm pretty sure about it. Look at games such as everquest, anarchy (which are going free to play now, i think?) and other games such as starwars galaxies and the matrix online. Though the unfortunate solution to some of those was closing servers.

That is because they remember the old, orginal PS. Before the "buy-our-expansion-dammit" changes, when the content was fresh and there was plenty of populated servers.

I went back to PS some months ago, but it was a unplayable mess, not the least because the only remaning server was located in the US.
But I to have fond memories of the old Ps, so I have signed up for the beta to see how bad it is

Planetside 2 seems to be more inspired by BF this time, even in the GDC vids he talks about BF. Seems like Planetside 1 without the horrible power rangers robots, refined and up-to-date gameplay and more focus on accessibility. Which is good if done right, it's just a little sad they don't want to take too much risks with asymetric gameplay by staying in the PS1 boundaries.

I played PS1 on my best friends PC, it was rather fun but at that time and to thsi day i am very much against a monthly charge but i do have a bit of a change of heart thing going on right now as PS2 looks nice, and i think that i will be picking it up.
