The AK May Not be as Bad as You Believe it is in CS: Global Offensive

Again, Valve updated the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive blog with a look at how the AK-47 in CS:GO compares to the AK in Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike 1.6. If you were under the impression that the AK in CS:GO was woefully inaccurate, then you may be in for a rude awakening here.

Part of our process at Valve is to make predictions and then test them. So we try to eliminate as much irrelevant noise from the testing process as possible. For ballistics comparisons in CS:GO, we made firing range maps for all three versions: CS, CS:S, and CS:GO. We figure that the community might want to run their own and discuss their results. So we’re making them available here: CS, CSS, CSGO. Let us know how you’re testing.

Here are the results from a quick test to compare standing single AK47 shots at a distance of 3072. ( These screenshots were taken close to the targets after the test, not from the firing line. )

Surprised at what the results show here? Don't believe them? Go ahead and try out the maps for yourself, the links are in the description above.

Ignoring this, because it doesn't reflect the game, helpful videos have been posted with accurate headshots at range in 1.6 that just CAN'T be made in GO.

So, ignoring hard evidence and just going with random gameplay where there are a ton of variables at play? Ok!...

Multiple videos have been posted, and Zips, I _know_ you have enough experience to get long range headshots with the AK, 1.6 or Source. Try it on GO.
