Three All-New Themed Expansion Packs Coming to Battlefield 3 in 2012

EA and DICE just took the lid off of their plans for the coming months of Battlefield 3 expansions. With the Back to Karkand maps already released, the focus now is on the future.

That future?: Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill, and Battlefield 3: End Game. These three themed expansion packs will begin to toll out in June with Close Quarters, followed up by Armored Kill in the Fall, and then End Game will round things out in the Winter.

    • Battlefield 3: Close Quarters – In Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, players are dropped into a frantic, infantry-only theatre of war. Frostbite 2 high definition destruction makes the environment come alive as everything from furniture to plaster gets shot to pieces. Players will feel the intensity of the world exploding around them as rubble and broken pieces pile up on the floor, while tight level design and vertical gameplay create a highly competitive environment. Battlefield 3: Close Quarters also introduces new weapons, assignments and unique dog tags to bring back to the base game.

    • Battlefield 3: Armored Kill – Following the tight infantry gameplay of Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, DICE will release Battlefield 3: Armored Kill that ups the ante for vehicular mayhem as only Battlefield can do. Featuring new driveable tanks, ATVs, mobile artillery and more, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill also delivers huge battlefields for an all-out vehicle assault, including the biggest map in Battlefield history.

    • Battlefield 3: End Game – The fourth expansion pack will ship in the winter but details remain tightly guarded.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm rather excited for these expansions and what they'll bring to the table. As always, keep a close eye on TGN for further details or check out the Battlefield site at Battlefield.com or on Facebook and Twitter.

was about to say "Nah thats MoH's job" then realised that BF3 was actually released last year...

Though I am actually looking forward to all expansions, even the "We actually are trying to compete with cod on this one" expansion. That one means that the rest of my Miniature clan can actually ball up and buy BF3 and stop playing MW3 like me and the other 2 smart and Natural selection defying members (though I never started playing MW3).

I hope they add at least 2 new weapons per class.

From what I'm reading, the Close Quarters maps run on a new game mode that has a 16 player max on PC.

I find it funny that everyone says this but the PC version is generally considered the superior version all around, even getting the highest scores by reviewers who review the game on seperate platforms...

But doesn't the majority of the people play the game on the shitty consoles?

That maybe so, but this is quality, not quantity. Console gamers are using the console version BECAUSE they can't play a game that requires DX10, Windows Vista, 2gb's of Ram and a well paced 512mb GPU at the minimum to play, possibly on 16 player TDM servers at most.

Hell, I remember when the nvidia 8800 was the "Be all End all" card on PC. Now its a minimum requirement.

They built this game with consoles in mind, there the biggest draw. PC gamers are an afterthought we dont net dice enough money to warrant anything but. Its all business...
