Battlefield Community Manager Wants to be More Open with Fans

In a couple of Tweets (2) made just minutes ago, Battlefield's Community Manager, Daniel "zh1nt0" Matros, made it clear that he and the Battlefield team need to be "more open" with their fans. This centers mainly on game updates and anti-cheat efforts.

Read through tons of posts, talked to some people. Tomorrow I´m going to present it all in-house. Lots of things need improvement

We need to be more open with our anti-cheat efforts and our updates regarding the game.

What are your thoughts on this push for the Battlefield team to be more forthcoming with information?

More Open with our anti-cheat efforts? Here is a tip...... Anyone caught cheating needs their account BANNED FOR LIFE! Simple as that!! Updates regarding the game. What Updates for BF3? A few weeks ago I sat down and compared BC2 updates and DLC to BF3 There was 3 in the first 3 months for BC2, BF3 has had one. How about that, oh and what about modding tools! That is what this game really needs!

It doesnt matter if they are forthcoming with information or not as it gets drowned out with the other issues. Go on Battlelog and look at the PS3 VOIP fix replies. Its either how PC needs ingame voip or some other issue that should be fixed that is deemed more important than anything else by that poster.

Same goes with other fixes or updates. Its non stop "Game still isnt working for anyone." "This game is dead" "This game isnt exactly like BF2."

So good luck Zh1nt0, but it doesnt matter what you post, the above "feedback" is what you are going to get.

As for what DICE should do to turn this stuff around; you actually moderate the Battlelog forums and clean it up and get it organized, mention whats coming up in the next patch, (regardless if it IS going to make it or not because then youre telling the community that you know its an issue), and update everyone on the DLC status. You dont have to give away your secrets or what is and wont be in it, just give some time lines.

@Rogue; There have been a number of server side, battlelog, and Origin updates that have corrected a number of issues. There was a day one patch as well as the large one before the release of B2K, but to say only one is not correct.

Is this a confession from guilt to the lies we got sold ?.

        1. PC lead design
        2. Voip, battalion command and other essentual goodies
        3. Biggest BF maps ever made

Not to mention a bug free game and alot cannot still play this game for bugs.the bugs are mainly becuase its a console port, a very bad one.

Exactly. Maintain a list of known errors and their status, and then kill every new thread regarding something already on the list.

I didnt see any admission of guilt and I dont recall them ever saying the game would be bug free.

pffft.................perhaps he could start by using the battleog news feature to bring us news about the game rather than using it to relay soccer scores......I know when i think BF3, i think soccer....... :gay_hand:

Battleog is a powerful tool that's being pissed away to bring us world cup scores and youtube videos, such a shame that noone over there with any real decision making power realizes it. They have the ability to communicate, that's what BL is supposed to be all about.....they simply chose not to use it.

You guys comparing how Bc2 got a crap load of new maps and updates and shit compared to bf3. I'd rather have actual new maps than a bunch of updates that just include new game modes in old maps. to me that is NOT updates, it was just them releasing "free" stuff that was in your cd already and you had already paid for. As i said, i prefer to have 4 new maps in an interval of 3 months, than 15 new game modes for the same old maps.

Now actually bragging about new stuff, where are them new maps!?!

@CptainCrunch You are correct, I wanted to say was this: The game was released on MArch 2nd and the first map pack, was released same day as well, called the "Day One Map Pack". The second map pack, entitled Map Pack 2, was released on March 30, 2010. Map Pack 3 was released June 30, 2010 for the PC. Map Pack 4 was released on July 7, 2010.Map Pack 5 was released on July 28, 2010. Map Pack 6 was released on August 18, 2010. Map Pack 7 was a released on December 1, 2010. So in the first 70 days there was 3 map packs, and over a span of 9 months 7 map packs in total So far we have had 4 new maps in the first two months, we are into our fourth month with a company who basically has crawled back under there shell..... And NOTHING about what is coming next! they did mention something about the cheaters...... Wow, its so sad, I have spent very little time since Christmas playing MW3, and for some reason, I can tolerate all of them in that game I find tht I can play only 1 hour/ day of BF3 lately I thought there was to be an announcement this week about something to do with BF3??? Did I miss it!!

Re: Battlefield Community Manager Wants to be More Open with Fans

You mean the BC2 Mode packs that just completed the game? BF3 has all its modes done, so they couldnt have done that again. I hated when DICE did that. They werent map packs and now, because they wanted to be marketing geniuses with that, they are getting it thrown back at them.

I get what youre saying though. Joking aside, the expectations for content were a lot higher, however, the game seems to have a lot of issues that I dont think they expected. Only 1% can play it. That doesnt mean there is not a team working on the content while others are working on patches. If I recall DICE bragged about their team being 3 times the size it was during BF2.

So, lack of communication + overexpectation + fan base that rages no matter which direction the devs go = disappoint for all

And no, you didnt miss any event as it did not happen and I doubt it will tomorrow. Some EA guy pretending he knew all the inside stuff.
