These three new shots are part of Game Informer's latest cover story for the game. Included in the physical magazine issue are 20 new shots of the game. Some things to note is that the game features both melee and gunplay, with weapons breaking after extended periods of use. Those who hate escort missions will also be happy to hear that Ellie, your companion, does a great job of keeping up and not getting in the way.
The Last of Us builds upon the idea of a fungus that takes over the brain and neurological processes of the creature it inhabits. The idea actually came about after a BBC documentary of Planet Earth showed ants that were essentially zombie slaves to the brain fungus. The game is less about the creatures in the game and more about the dynamics of a "father-daughter-like relationship."
I'm just thrilled to see Pittsburgh as one of the main settings for a game. Naughty Dog (perhaps you've heard of their work?) is developing the title and is expected to see a release in early 2013.
