EA's Origin Has 9.3 Million Users, Generates $100 Million in Revenue

Better buckle up Origin haters, it seems like EA's digital distribution platform is very much alive and kicking. The company's latest financial briefing noted the fact that the service has hit 9.3 million registered users and has earned over $100 million (USD) in revenue since its launch.

This news comes on the heels of the news that a number of third-party games will soon hit the digital distribution platform. Compared to Steam, however, it still has quite a ways to go. Steam currently has over 40 million registered users with sales doubling year over year.

The growth of Origin certainly had a lot to do with exclusives such as Battlefield 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
