Black Mesa Release Teased Again After Soundtrack Released

The Webmaster for Black Mesa (you remember Black Mesa, right?) made a forum post on the official Black Mesa boards that sort of alluded to something special happening soon.

It was said that once the soundtrack is released, one could expect the launch of black mesa two weeks after. I can now say that a new website will be launched with the soundtrack in preparation for the mod. Fuck if we care about the current website. Just take a good look at it because it will be gone soon enough.

Now, Black Mesa has gone media silent for the past 2+ years now. Their Twitter hasn't been updated in 757 days and counting. The project began in late 2004, around the time Half-Life 2 first came out. They released a teaser trailer in 2005, and a longer trailer in 2008. It was then given an official release date of late 2009 but as 2009 came and went, it was changed to a "when it's done" release.

The mod which attempts to recreate the original Half-Life using the Orange Box version of the Source engine, has won numerous vaporware awards over the past three years running.

If what Webmaster Hubicorn says is true and "soon enough" actually means "soon" and not some stupid period of another half of a decade, then maybe 2012 will actually be the year in which we see the release of Black Mesa.

I wouldn't exactly go holding my breath just yet if I were any of you.
