  • Man vs Machine Nearly Hit Their Goal of 1,000 Simultaneous Players in One Battlefield

Yesterday, an ambitious goal was sent that would be a world record, if achieved, for the world of gaming. The goal was to have 1,000 players simultaneously playing a first-person shooter in one server, one map, in a web browser, all at the same time.

The Man vs Machine project took place on Sunday and while their goal of 1,000 players was not met, it did hit a maximum player count of 999 players on at one time. A few videos have already hit Youtube at the world record attempt, both of which can be found below. While it wasn't 100% stable, it did run for enough time to hit the high player counts and allow for players to get some kills in.

Probably because it was only made for this record attempt and the underlying tech showcase.
