A job listing on the Blizzard website is seeking out someone who will "work with major consumer brands to facilitate product placement and licensing within the world of Blizzard Entertainment's next-gen MMO that enhances the gameplay experience."
The position is for a "Franchise Development Producer" and will also be tasked with promoting the new MMO, codenamed Titan, outside of the game industry. This means that they will be in charge of getting Titan into the minds of readers, non-gamers, action figures, movies, underwear, shirts, hats, bumper stickers, coffee mugs, and more. Just let your imagination run wild with the possibilities.
Nothing is really known at all about Titan other than the strong speculation that it will not be in a fantasy setting. In-game advertising could work if done properly in the right setting, such as a futuristic sci-fi world. I guess we all just have to wait and see what Blizzard has in store for us.
