The more active you participate in the event, the better chance you have at winning the big drawing at the end of the sale. The grand prize? Every game on Steam.

Each day, there will be a very easy to obtain achievement through Steam that will either provide to you a free gift or a lump of coal. Meaning that even if you don't have any of the games listed for the day in which you can win or earn gifts or coal, you still have a chance to win something. Each lump of coal you keep is one more entry you'll have into the grand prize drawing at the end of the sale. Or, if you wish, you can combine seven pieces of coal into a random gift from the Great Gift Pile.
The Gift Pile runs the range from XX% off of various publishers' titles to full free games including the Orange Box, Episode 2, Red Orchestra 2, and a ton more (link to a post on Facepunch listing all of the potential free games you can win).
