Stupid Media Article of the Month: Grand Theft Auto 5 to Blame for Virginia Tech Shootings

We all understand how videogames are to blame for just about every horrible event in modern day society, right? At least the case has been that the only games that were blamed were those that have already been released. Not anymore!

Journalist Amir Ariff working for Myona, says that the shooter in the most recent Virginia Tech shootings was influenced by such videogames as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Grand Theft Auto V. Yes, V as in five, a game that isn't even out yet and only has one teaser trailer to its name.

“Ross wasn’t that kind of person. He was friendly, nice,” said Nic Robinson to AP. She is a 21-year-old history major preparing for law school at Radford University, where Ashley was a part-time student.

This has spark a speculation whether Ross was influenced by the recent burst of video games shooters such as Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. His style of the killing is similar to the upcoming Rockstar’s title Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5).

I love the fact that in the article, it's even mentioned that the game is "upcoming" and not yet released. At this point, it's only a matter of time before other media outlets pick this up and run with it. Perhaps starting a trend of blaming unreleased games that will then become a trend of blaming games not even yet announced.

THIS JUST IN: The Cowboys lost the game last night because Grand Theft Auto XI: Antarctica traveled back through time from its release in 2040 and mentally abused every player on the team as a child. The game also kicked their dog and insulted their mothers.

Ive never lived a life without video games. Since I was born, there were arcades and stuff. I bet the world was a utopia before the invent of these mind altering devices.

What did journalists write about before games? There was no crime, no wars, no thefts. I guess it was just a small newspaper with sports, economy, family livving, the comics, and weather. Oh, and some ads to sell your stuff or find a job.

"We're all very different people. We're not Watusi. We're not Spartans. We're Americans, with a capital 'A', huh? You know what that means? Do ya? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts! Here's proof: his nose is cold! But there's no animal that's more faithful, that's more loyal, more loveable than the mutt." -John Winger (Bill Murray) Stripes
