Voice Actor Reportedly Working on Half-Life 2: Episode 3

It seems a bit of a stretch at this point to still call it "Episode 3" but the latest rumor out there is that a voice actor let it slip that he recorded some lines for Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

The rumor is that OXM was told by a "US-based voice actor" that he has recently recorded lines for "Half-Life: Episode 3." That is it. That is the extent of the rumor.

As always, Valve is remaining completely quiet on the subject of Half-Life 3/Episode 3. So... enjoy!

If they release an episode 3, there are going to be a lot of extremely outraged and disappointed fans.

Why would they be outraged? I thought people wanted ep3?

People dont want episode 3, they want HL3, why?

Because most fans, me included, were disheartened when they first heard the news that the franchise was going to be continued in episode form. We were however promised that this would mean content would be released more frequently. Instead we received 2 episodes with little over 6 hours of gameplay spaced almost 2 years apart. It has now been 7 years since HL2 and almost 4 years since the last episode instalment, if they released an episode 3 it would quite frankly be the biggest kick in the face to what is a loyal but slowly dying fan base.

In recent years i have honestly lost a lot of faith in Valve in terms of a developer, to me now they are no better than EA or Activision who push out cheap hits to maximise profits. Im not saying there is anything wrong with that, a company is about making money after all, but im saying i dont want to actively support a developer who pursues this path. Half-Life was once a game that defined the technological advancements of PC development and Valve were proud of what they had achieved. All Valve are to me now is a company who push out useless updates adding more useless hats and accessories to what is slowly becoming a fashion show simulator.

If they release an Episode 3, they can kiss goodbye to one heck of a large loyal fan base.

You really think so? Because its Episode three and not just HL 3? Wasnt Episode 2 left in the air? How could they make a HL3 if Episode 2 isnt complete?

Its been a very long time since I played these games. Is Episode 2 a jump in the story?

HL2:EP2 ended on a very shocking "in terms of storyline" note and i think it would be an appropriate place to pick up from if they did a HL3. I do however feel that HL3 would have to be set some time after the events of HL2 and its episodes purely for the fact jumping straight back into it wouldnt feel right.

However, as to whether people would be outraged by an Episode 3 rather than HL3, i have no doubt in my mind.
