Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Beta Begins Now

The stress test beta for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has officially kicked off! Even the old Counter-Strike.net site has been relaunched with a look and a feel closer to what the Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead sites have going on!

Today, CSGO starts its first stress test of our servers and a variety of client hardware.

This stress test contains a limited set of weapons, items, game modes, and functionality.

If you have a beta key, fire up the game. Join a match on a server. Give us feedback in the Steam forums.

As noted, this is a very limited, very closed beta stress test. They will be giving more keys away at a time that has yet to be determined. We are in contact with Valve and once keys start to go out for contests or distributions, we certainly hope to have some things to give away to you Counter-Strike fans still remaining here.

Don't ask for keys that we don't have yet. Once we have some, IF we get them, I'll make a post about it.

Until then... I'm uploading the first of a few video previews right now. Also,

Re: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Beta Begins Now

It's a more competitive oriented version of CS. More of a mix between 1.6 and CSS with a lot of CS pros offering up their opinions to Valve on what should be done.

It's still on the Source engine. Has gameplay tweaks, oriented towards 5v5 gameplay, etc. There is a lot to fix but eventually this will more than likely end up being THE go to game for competitive CS play or competitive fps play in general once more.

It just doesnt offer anything different for me. Im a great believer in making a game and re-skinning it to update the graphics. However that has already been done from CS 1.6 to CSS.
