Battlefield 1943 Coming to PS3 Battlefield 3 Owners After All

EA said that the lack of Battlefield 1943 for those who purchased the Playstation 3 version of Battlefield 3 was just a little "misunderstanding." Regardless of the reason, they are now going to re-offer a free copy of the game to PS3 owners.

Simply head on over to the Battlefield 1943 redemption site to get the low down. The vouchers will be given as a staggered release as follows:

• November 26th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation®Network Sony Europe
• December 10th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation®Network Sony America
• December 17th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation®Network Sony Asia and Sony Japan

There are also some key steps that must be taken in order to download your free copy of the game:

1. Activate your Battlefield 3 Online Pass for the PlayStation 3 using the voucher included in the game (see step #5 for additional instructions).
2. Visit 1943redemption.battlefield.com on or after the dates outlined above for your region and log in with your Origin ID and password. Click here if you need help with retrieving your account information.
3. Select your territory. Note vouchers do not work across regions.
4. You will then receive a PlayStation 3 voucher for Battlefield 1943.
5. input your voucher into the PlayStation Network store. Instructions below.
   1. From the XMB (cross media-bar) of the PlayStation 3 connected to a network, choose [account management] under the [PlayStation Network].
   2. From the menu select redeem codes.
   3. Enter voucher and select continue.
   4. Download Battlefield 1943.

Yep, it's just that simple. There is still no PC version of Battlefield 1943.

they dodged one bullet, i now think it might not be that bad to release a pc version, i mean i was kind of not interested at first as i had all these other games but you know i wouldn't mind paying 15 for 1943 just to complete my collection and have some island hoping battle fun!

They will, in a DLC for BF3.

Good move on EAs part. With the steps PS3 owners have to follow, I bet most of them have thrown away their vouchers and its obvious by looking at the Battlelog forums that actually reading news about a game is a minority thing for gamers, they will probably give out about 100 copies.

There is going to be a WWII DLC for BF3 that is going to basically be BF1943. If we get that DLC for free is another matter, judging that Limited Edition owners only get Karkand/BF2 DLC for free I doubt it.

Yeah, EA misunderstood how much people wanted that game. Just like how they misunderstood how PC players wanted it.
