Whoops! Activision Reported the Incorrect Day One Player Count for Modern Warfare 3

Previously, Activision stated that there were 3.3 million simultaneous players enjoying Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Live on launch day. It turns out that was a mistake!

Activision revised their statement and issued the following comment on what the true simultaneous player count was on launch day.

The correct figure is 1.4 million simultaneous users. As previously stated, more than 3.3 million unique gamers played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in one day on November 8.

Still impressive numbers but certainly nowhere near the 3.3 million users that was originally reported.

Activision: I'm sorry EA, its not 3.5 times your daily player base, only 2 times, but it was still 3.5 times on release day.

Actually the 3.5 on day statistic was an error.

I misread it, thought it said they were trying to claim 3.3 million a day and were using the release day figures. I was also never s big fan of stats.

Haha I never seen these numbers of 3.3 million people or I would have called that one. What ever analyst thought that could be true needs a little touch with reality.
