The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? Yeah, It Sold Quite Well

Bethesda Softworks and Zenimax revealed today that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has done amazingly well in its first few days of being on sale. Already, seven million units have been shipped with estimates going as high as $450 million in global retail sales.

“We are grateful for the fans’ response to Skyrim,” said Robert Altman, Chairman and CEO of ZeniMax Media. “Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides.”

More than 50% of the launch units were sold in the first 48 hours of the game's release. Concurrent players hit a high on Steam of 280,000 people enjoying Skyrim all at once this past weekend. Skyrim is also sitting pretty with more than 50 perfect review scores. And in case you missed it earlier (and shame on you if you did), we have our own video review up for Skyrim, a major contender for GOTY no matter how you slice it.
