The Sound of Skyrim Behind the Scenes Video

More Skyrim goodness for you today. Bethesda takes us on a behind the scenes look of the sounds, voice talent, and music of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

But that's not all! The community blog was updated with a ton of additional information that you can read through.

    The Songs of Skyrim
When the time came to begin layering music into Skyrim, Lampert collaborated with longtime Elder Scrolls composer Jeremy Soule to give the composer a sense of how different the game would be from previous entries in the series.

"I just sent Jeremy videos of me walking through the pine forest, walking through the fall forest, here's the tundra," says Lampert.

"We wanted the wilderness exploration to be quite a bit more sparse, so the whole system -- Mat Krohn, our audio programmer, did a lot of work getting the music engine reworked with new tools for me to play with, to where we can put in all the exploration tracks that you would normally hear."

Often during gameplay, the music will shift from an aggressive, heroic song to a more ambient track depending on the region the player is currently exploring.

"We call them the 'palettes,'" explains Lampert, "because it's kind of like a color palette, the general vibe or feel for this area. Versus what Jeremy called the 'narrative' pieces, which are the more traditional music queues for the game."

In the end, the soundtrack fondly nods to old themes while also representing a fresh new sound for the series.

"Jeremy leaned a little more heavily toward horns and drums, and a little less with strings and harp," says Lampert. "It's still here in the right places, but there's a whole tonal shift.

“He did a great job of capturing that Nordic, Skyrim feel."

As usual, Skyrim comes out on 11/11/11 which works out to November 11th no matter how you read your dates.

Anyone have any idea how this will look on the Xbox? And how many discs?

All the footage they've shown have been from the Xbox, and 1 disc confirmed :)
