Battlefield 3 for PC Apparently Leaked

Surprised? I am sort of surprised at this news. It is a high profile title, without a doubt, but you would think that it would be under strict lock down from EA and DICE. However, the sad fact is that the game content for Battlefield 3 has been leaked and is starting to make the rounds at the usual suspects.

As it stands, there is no crack available and those who leaked it state that there won't be any crack released until the game's actual release. Meaning that what people are downloading right now is just a lot of game content that can do nothing but sit on their hard drive taking up space. We cannot validate any of these claims as we are not downloading the files nor touching them with a ten foot pole.

We at Total Gaming Network do not condone piracy in any form. In fact, it's often used as a huge talking point as to why developers are starting not to care about PC releases, favoring console releases above all else. So when it comes to something like this, try not to be an idiot about it. Go buy the game when it's released.

Well it could be a good way to get a preprepreload or something... I dunno.

Crack not available? Don't you mean "Complete alternate online infrastructure"? I'm thinking that was one of the main points of the Origin/Battlelog system. If you pirate the game, all you're getting is the raw data files, maps, art assets, etc.. You can't even fire up the single player it looks like without Battlelog. I'm sure the system will eventually be busted and you'll see other work arounds, but no launch day cracks. Which is really what they care about given how much of a games profit is tied up in the first 30-90 day period.

There is a crack floating around but its a fake, its constructed of old Alpha & Beta files... or so I've heard.

Some DVDs have already been sent out, right? That would probably explain the leak...

No, you can crack almost anything. The complete online infrastructure would need to be developed for MP and maybe co-op. For single-player, no. You don't even need to go through Battlelog for SP.

Oh yes. You can crack anything, the question is how long will it take? The real goal of DRM isn't to stop pirates. They were never your customers to begin with. They aren't a lost sale. The goal of DRM is to stop people who would otherwise buy your game from pirating. The further you get out from launch, that number drops drastically. I don't think the SP will really be worth pirating. I'm sure the pirates will prove me wrong.

The leaked version can't be cracked because it is encrypted (similar to how Steam encrypts their pre-loads). A crack isn't possible without the decryption key.

Once the actual game comes out, however, I expect the crack will appear within a day.

                OMG, I can post again!

Anyways, its not that big of a deal. BF3 has such heavy encryption that no one has been able to crack the disc image. The game has already gone to distribution centers and this is where it leaked. We are going to get to preload in about 4 days anyways so not really worth it. In other news, the xbox version however is open and people are already playing that.

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't leaked intentionally as it will only fuel the hype machine and only hype will win BF3 over COD. 99.9%of BF players, play for online, so a pirate copy is void of that. They will still buy the game, i'm sure the linear SP is very impressive.

Do you have a source for the Xbox leak or open that you are talking about?

I heard about the Xbox version as well. However, the only thing I've seen for that is the Battlefield 3 Beta, not the final release.

Trust me, you can find the xbox img real easy, I do not condone it, but it is real easy to find.

Its not out. Not on the FTP sites, at least. Maybe some geek will ISO it and make a torrent, but it won't be playable.

But it doesn't matter anyway. Like someone said, BF3 is a MULTIPLAYER game. Sure, it has a single player campaign, but its mainly played for its multiplayer. You need a legit key to play multiplayer. Crackers have tried online cd-key generators, but they just don't work. So, piracy really won't hurt this game.

Since we are talking piracy, nothing is a sure thing, we all know that, but I would have to say that BF3 on the PC side would be harder to do just because of the Origin tie in and Battlelog and then the game files.

Again, nothing impossible when it comes to software security.

It won't really do much in my opinion. Sure, it will prevent pirates from playing MP, but that's been the case since forever (except MW2, but that's the fail IW.Net). From what repi said before, you can play SP offline. If you are playing offline, you won't be able to connect to Origin/Battlelog surely.
