Caspian Border Servers are No More

*Too busy bashing my head against a desk to type opening to news.*

Thank you for testing Caspian Border

It´s been 3 days full of win!

Thank you everyone who participated in testing Caspian Border with us during the Open Beta. We of course cherish and appreciate the time you have put into supplying is with good feedback. We will of course read it through and discuss it internally.

Testing has now been completed and we are shutting down the Caspian Border servers.

The best thing about the beta and they're denying access to it? Listen DICE and EA, you aren't doing a very good job at selling your game by having Rush Mode on Metro. The enjoyment factor? Pretty low. You're also really worrying off your old-school Battlefield fans with this because a lot of them believe that this is what the game is going to be like.

How's about you just throw the community a bone, bring back those Caspian Border servers without passwords, and give everyone a good taste of the true Battlefield experience?

I agree wholeheartedly, I only played Caspian Border for an hour or so, but it was probably the most fun I've had in a FPS game in a LONG time. At least now I know that BF3 will be my FPS of choice for a long time.

i have to admit i am very angry that they chose metro as the beta map. metro just plain sucks and is nothing like what battlefield should be. the dark, crappy subway and close quarter spam fests do not show what battlefield is about, not to mention the complete lack of vehicles. i didnt get a chance to play caspian border so now i am stuck with metro for a few weeks and i am already sick of it. not good for if people were on the fence about getting this game. very poor decision by dice.

Re: Caspian Border Servers are No More

I really wouldn't be surprised if the decision of Op. Metro over Caspian cost them sales. Whatever they call it, this was still primarily a demo. I know a lot of people who were excited Thursday to play the beta who had never played BF before. Most of them wanted to see the large-scale vehicle combat everyone talks about. Needless to say, a lot of them weren't very impressed when I talked to them today.

It appears that they recognize that people don't like it though:

@zh1nt0 @locust9 @L_Twin @Battlefield You are all aware that over 90% of players hate Op metro aren't you? We want battlefield maps DICE!

Reply from zh1nt0: @daz_black we've seen the feedback. Thanks.

They probably closed it down after all the bitching that was going on in the battlelog forums, holy crap...I get a headache every time I go in there...

The way I see it, even if it's a beta, it's also a demo. And they lost sales on the decision of OP Metro as the beta map. Just like Anarchy said.

They sold the "MoH/CoD experience", not the "Battlefield experience" which was featured in Caspian Border.

                touche' ZIPS!

I think they have completely put the focus clearly on infantry combat with vehicles just an afterthought.......again.....they just removed the only "battlefield" part of the beta.

Ouch, talk about a sharp swift kick between the legs. They are doing a lovely job sabotaging themselves, bravo excellent infantry, but people don't play BF for the infantry.

Are they trying to lose sales? All i have seen so far is an awesome graphical game that looks exactly like COD and the one chance I have of really experiencing BF and they take it away! COD is going to destroy BF3 in sales just on the basis that they are always themselves to the consumer and don't sugarcoat that they half @*s there games, while BF3 is trying to be to much like COD, this is a disaster. I'm honestly only keeping my pre-order in pure faith because I loved BF2 and want a true sequel. Guess i'll get to try these maps out in a month =\

Theyre not going to lose sells because of this. The hype and demand of the Caspian map is just going to solidify the fact that the real battlefield is back with these teasers and encourage those to get the game.

                            Its a well played move.

And dont tell me you are cancelling your order or know a friend that is, because I heard that for MW2 and we all know what happened there:

Yeah, as much as Metro is disappointing, the "cancellers" are only the vocal minority.
