Welcome to Early Access of the Battlefield 3 Open Beta!

    From the Battlefield Blog:

Starting today, we are happy to invite eligible players to early access of the much anticipated Battlefield 3 Open Beta!

We want to thank everyone for their interest in this Open Beta. Just by joining, you will help us stress test servers, allow us to run important tests on the game’s back-end, and find potential issues to track.

We would also like to invite you to leave any feedback to us at DICE via the forums in the social platform Battlelog. Remember that this software is in Beta and does not represent final quality. By giving us your valuable feedback on your Open Beta experience, you are helping us gather ideas for where to focus our efforts, either for launch day or for upcoming updates for Battlefield 3.

If you are eligible to early access (by registering a first-hand copy of Medal of Honor: Limited Edition/Tier 1 Edition, or by pre-ordering Battlefield 3 digital download PC version on Origin), you should have received your personal invitation via email by now. If not, please check your spam filter or reach out to our customer service.

The Battlefield 3 Open Beta will be open to all on September 29th. For a full FAQ on the Open Beta and how the early access works, head here.

Once again, we are very happy to be up and running and seeing the server activity graphs point straight to the skies.

Return here during the period of the Open Beta (ends October 10th) for regular updates on what is happening in the game, what feedback we have gathered, and what new features and fixes we are implementing based on your feedback.

    Thanks for your help!

    /The DICE team

So a little more information about the Beta. If you still have not received your early access invite, and are entitled to it, then you should talk to EA suport. I have heard that the wait is long.

Also, don't forget that this is a Beta and you should submit feedback and report bug information to DICE. Even those that claim nothing will be done anyway, well, if no one says anything at all, you're right. If you do say something, then at least you did all that you could do. As proof, the Commo Rose was added back to the final game. Maybe we can get key bindings back as well.

UPDATE: Key bindings are in the game. I played for 7 minutes so far and found them in the first two. Some people are not paying attention.

I have both, no key from EA. contacted support, or I should say tried to contact support. got a hold of someone and they said their "tools" were down to check back in a few hours. every time I try to get a support person it just gives an error saying "not available right now". the early access thing is like one big troll by EA & DICE.

Re: Welcome to Early Access of the Battlefield 3 Open Beta!

I really, really don't know how I feel about this game, about Battlelog, about any of it.

Between the headaches with EA completely screwing things up for those people who had a key previously and put in a second key, to little things like not even being able to change your game options until you've found a server in battlelog that isn't full, join up, load the game, and spawn in, to being knocked out of the options menu and/or unable to get to it because the killcam/death screens take the utmost precedence, to the game in its current state feeling like a freaky mix of CoD, Bad Company 2, and BF2...

      I just... I really don't know.

As an aside, I'd like to give a hearty "screw you" to EA support person "Kenneth." You made me waste a third key today. Thanks. :icon_rolleyes:

It definitely feels weird, but I hope that when it comes out, and we get to try full battlefield maps it will feel ok.

And yeah, the deathscreen is horrible, it feels glitched. And the lens flare is a flashlight...

When Battlefield 2 was in open demo I played the thing to death. Took me years to actually buy the game though, by the time it was released I had moved on to other things and couldn't afford it at the time. The above comments are not impressing me though. I'll probably give it a try anyway and then sum up everything that's wrong with it in one long post and see if that changes anything. I love to give feedback; but rarely does it matter if I do.

Well so far im extremely disappointed by the Beta. I played in the alpha and the game felt very much together and solid, it was very playable minus a few bugs. However this beta feels like a complete step backwards! There is constant lag, screen flashing, falling through walls, you cant even bind mouse controls for christs sake :/Extremely disappointed.

Re: Welcome to Early Access of the Battlefield 3 Open Beta!

Ok i have played a few more rounds and much of what i said earlier stands. I cant really see what the difference with metro is now other than the fact they have taken away the APC at the beginning of the map. The GFX engine feels less optimized than it did in the alpha which is strange, not to mention the overall feel of the player feels a lot more erratic than before.

I have had a few good rounds but they have all been blighted with lag, underground glitchers and a severe lack of control.

I have played a couple/few rounds today, ran into some bugs, when in prone you see beneath the ground and it gets very shaky as if your falling in the ground and up again. Lag is there. light flicker is there too. kill cam is annoying hopefully it can be turned off. as well as with the settings they should be put in battlelog or something it gets annoying to do it from a game server. The beta game itself is not bad, after playing a bit i also feel mutual to waht some of you guys have been feeling..weird. All i can say is hopefully dice attends to these bugs and God willing the final release to be real battlefield. Oh the best thing today is that i could take off the scope off of a sniper rifle which is probably old news but its just epic! cant wait to test an M24 with no scope!

Re: Welcome to Early Access of the Battlefield 3 Open Beta!

                      what I liked:

                      -Visually it looks great
                      -prone... about time
-shinny scopes from the enemy, nice touch
                      -Tons of unlock, seems ok
-Destruction, feels right, much better than BC2
-Change in fire mode... me likes.
-you get burned while walking on fire... yes I did the BC2 maneuver.... FAIL... lol

                      What I didn't like

-Awards system looks like a joke, on the first 10 rounds I got like half the ribbons, and I'm half way to get half the medals... come on... I loved the BF2142 systems where pins were for small things, badges for persistence, ribbons for hard things to do, and medals for real hardcore gamers.
-The menu layout in-game just sucks, there is no exit button, I cannot pick my squad, I need to be alive to change my settings, so I'm an easy kill, WTF is wrong with these people... press escape, show me all the !@#$%^ options.
-There are some guns side specific, I have 3 assault unlocks but only 2 show at a time on each side, we should be ahead enough in the evolution of this game where I could pick the weapon I want regardless of the side I'm in.

                      Bugs in Battlelogs,

-Connecting with friends is a pain, if the server has just finished the map and is reloading, and you want to join a friend you get a nasty error message with no information whatsoever.

Game bugs, (Yes I do understand is a beta, the resembles more the alpha, but I'll point them anyway)

-I you walk on bumpy areas near consoles, half the time you will find yourself with half of your body inside the ground, yeah.. it's not a wall hack, it's just a nasty bug.
                      - Sometimes if you try jumping though objects the jump animation fires but you don't go anywhere, needs some serious work here.
-Shooting a glass from far away takes 1 shot, but if you are side by side on it, it takes about 4 shots.
-If you are medic and drop a medic box, first the box is HUGE!!, and second what if I pressed the wrong button, or if I just want to carry the box over ... no... it drops it right away.
-the Defib animation seems to be missing here I can try to revive a guy more than 10 times in less than 5 seconds..... that's some fast reviving right there...

Re: Welcome to Early Access of the Battlefield 3 Open Beta!

The thing that really bugs me is the R to reload AND to pick up a kit. I complained about this during the alpha and here it is in the beta. I try to reload and instead I just keep picking up weapons. I got into a hallway firefight and killed three people with three different kits before I found mine and then was killed because it was still empty.

Other thing that bugs me is that Origin loads no matter what and its not tied in with Battlelog at all. I didnt need Origin loaded in the alpha, but they made sure its tied in the beta and it doesnt do anything for you. At least add friends into your group for Battlelog. Now I have two different friend lists that dont match up.

Then the stupid chat window is still on the right below the kills. That placement makes no sense.

They had a perfectly good button layout in BF2, I normally changed just a few things. (Squad from Caps to Home, Prone to Caps, Z and X to a couple of the higher equipment slots, Middle Mouse to Primary Weapon for Mode Switch and faster primary switch and Pistol/Ammo/Health kit to Mouse 4 and Knife/Gernade/Defib to Mouse 5 depending on what I was playing at the time.)

So far after two days of playing I have fallen through the world over 53 times. That is when I'm lucky to not join some crappy EU server that EA things is the best ping for me being in the west coast of the US... Furthermore; the battlelog site is utter trash and stupid; I don't like the fact I have to load the game from my web browser and then alt + enter to full screen it, that is if you are even lucky to get into a game that isn't full or EU with utter high ping and lag that makes the game so unplayable.I'm utterly unimpressed with this game and have been for a long time. EA/DICE once again proves their incompetence at making a game and giving it to people in a full form that isn't full of lag, bugs, falling through the world and half the other things wrong with this.On the top of EA support; I've one of the few people who lucked out without having to deal with their support; which is utter piss poor; EA doesn't give two shits about you... They much like a honey badager they don't give a shit, they'll just take your money and push out crap products that don't work for the first 6 months; when a fresh batch of new people come in and fresh batch of new bugs arise from the 6 months of fixing the original ones.Overall, BF3 really isn't exciting; I most likely will just play the SP and be done with it :/.

Ok, first, a few line breaks would be nice.

Second, the beta options has a tab to make it full screen on start up. The ALT ENTER is for Battlelog itself.

Third the battlelog site has a lot of great features for yourself and groups of people. I think you dont like the idea of a browser for a game and thats understandable.

Fourth, its a beta. Yeah, it sucks, but thats how it is. It wasnt like that in the alpha so there is a way to fix it.

Fifth, yeah, cause Activision cares so much. At least there is Valve.

Finally, loved the honey badger statement. I just recently saw that on Youtube and its great. Also, I wouldnt buy BF3 for single player only now. If you do, then you deserve what you get.

DICE has never released a game that didnt have issues in the first weeks. Never. You know the track record, be prepared for it.
