The Android version of Minecraft, curiously entitled Minecraft - Pocket Edition, will be released on Thursday, September 29th. Mojang was even so kind as to make the announcement alongside a new gameplay video for the title.
iOS users shouldn't fret as a version of the game is indeed in the works for you as well. No exact date outside of "eventually" for the iOS. The price for the Android version looks to be $6.54 (USD) and there does appear to be a free demo.
