Minimum and Recommended Requirements Revealed for Battlefield 3

EDIT: A couple of Tweets from DICE's Community Manager, zh1nt0, point out that the "recommended requirements" will be good enough to let you run the game on at medium. As for Ultra? Er, well...

In response to "would one GTX580 run it on ultra, or do I need two of them?", the response was a simple "2."

Original: In case you haven't yet seen them, the beta page for Battlefield 3 has been updated to include the minimum system requirements and the recommended system specs for the title.

    Minimum System Requirements
    • OS: WINDOWS VISTA (SERVICE PACK 2) 32-BIT
    • PROCESSOR: 2 GHZ DUAL CORE (CORE 2 DUO 2.4 GHZ OR ATHLON X2 2.7 GHZ)
    • MEMORY: 2 GB
    • HARD DRIVE: 20 GB
    • GRAPHICS CARD (AMD): DIRECTX 10.1 COMPATIBLE WITH 512 MB RAM (ATI RADEON 3000, 4000, 5000 OR 6000 SERIES, WITH ATI RADEON 3870 OR HIGHER PERFORMANCE)
    • GRAPHICS CARD (NVIDIA): DIRECTX 10.0 COMPATIBLE WITH 512 MB RAM (NVIDIA GEFORCE 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 OR 500 SERIES WITH NVIDIA GEFORCE 8800 GT OR HIGHER PERFORMANCE)
    • SOUND CARD: DIRECTX COMPATIBLE
    • KEYBOARD AND MOUSE
    • DVD ROM DRIVE

    Recommended System Requirements
    • OS: WINDOWS 7 64-BIT
    • PROCESSOR: QUAD-CORE CPU
    • MEMORY: 4 GB
    • HARD DRIVE: 20 GB
    • GRAPHICS CARD: DIRECTX 11 COMPATIBLE WITH 1024 MB RAM (NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 OR ATI RADEON 6950)
    • SOUND CARD: DIRECTX COMPATIBLE
    • KEYBOARD AND MOUSE
    • DVD ROM DRIVE

Is your system ready for Battlefield 3?

I was so excited about being able to hit the recommended specs and run this on high/ultra...

And then I read zh1nt0's Tweets. Really sucks that my GTX560Ti is already not good enough for a game on high/ultra. I already know my Q6600 is beyond dated but come on.

The difference between Ultra and the setting below that, won't be noticeable at all, just like Crysis 2.

Each time a thread appears on the "News" page, a small goblin appears and eat all the edit buttons.

And Christ allmighty, a 6950 is the recommended GFX card?
That is the second fastest single-GPU card from AMD.

The performance must have improved a lot from the alpha, since the requirements are now similar to the ones from bfbc2

Since I can't edit: ridiculous* Also, I am going to assume that this game is sponsored by Nvidia based on what zh1nt0 is saying.
