Crytek and THQ Team Up for Homefront Sequel

After the rather lackluster reviews for the original Homefront, THQ shut down Kaos Studios. However, the sales were strong enough that the company decided to keep the franchise alive, turning this time to Crytek for the development duties.

"Selecting Crytek to take Homefront forward underscores our strategy of working with the industry's best talent," said THQ's Danny Bilson, of today's announcement.

"With Crytek's industry leading technology and legendary experience in the FPS genre, we're supremely confident that the next Homefront will deliver that AAA-quality experience that players demand."

According to GI.biz, the next Homefront title is expected to see the light of day in THQ's 2014 fiscal year. As a small fan of the original, it's good to see the series will continue on.

Re: Crytek and THQ Team Up for Homefront Sequel

I was thinking: "Don't EA own Crytek?" Then I thought: No, they actually don't do they. And it was Microsoft that almost bought them out but didn't because bungie's game was similar to their Idea (Crysis)

this is fantastic news. i am not afraid to admit that i get far more joy out of playing homefront multiplayer than black ops. homefront is a solid game with amazing multiplayer gameplay. the community is small, but strong and there are still enough servers to choose from. it is too bad that 80% of the original buyers of the game gave it up because the recent patches really fixed everything. looking forward to this game, just not sure if ill get it because bf3 will be hogging my time.

I always wanted to try Homefront and almost bought it until I heard the terrible reviews. Hopefully Crytek can turn it around (and not make it a terrible console port a la Crysis 2).

The developers did an awesome job on the game. Too bad it got rushed. If they had faster response when the game was released it would still be going.. I still think kaos should still make the sequel.
