CVG reports that Nintendo is readying a new Wii configuration that should hit store shelves around the Holiday season in the UK. It will be a more streamlined version of the current model but will ship with the loss of GameCube playback functionality.
The loss of GameCube capabilities for games also means that the console will not support GameCube peripherals and accessories either. There is no word on whether or not this new model will ship with a lower price tag.
