Dragon Age 2 Pulled from Steam

Another one bites the dust. Keen observers have noted that Dragon Age 2 has been pulled from Steam. Interesting that this comes on the same day that new DLC, Legacy, was released for the title.

While this may not have anything directly to do with EA's Origin service, it is speculated that this is again related to EA violating Valve's Terms of Service for Steam. Namely, the part that deals with the availability of DLC and again, as mentioned, Dragon Age 2's Legacy DLC was indeed released today. A similar situation took place when Crysis 2 was pulled due to issues surrounding the DirectX 11 patch and DLC update.

Whether or not this has something to do specifically with how EA offers the DLC remains to be seen. They offer it specifically though an in-game store, which tends to bypass the Steam system entirely, a situation that violates Steam's ToS set forth by Valve. Simply put, it appears as though EA is trying to pull a fast one with their DLC releases and this provides an easy out in their contract with Valve.

The game will still show up in your game list on Steam if you already purchased the title, but until this war of publishers comes to an end, don't expect to see it being sold on Steam any time soon.

This is looking more and more like a Store War is brewing.

After this, I wouldnt be surprised at all if BF3 is not on Steam.

I dont expect to see it on Steam, so if that 25% discount goes through, I will be preordering on Origin.

Honestly, It seems like EA are starting a smear campaign, with them calling steam "Restrictive". I find this weird though, EA are the guys who distribute the Console and Physical Copies of Valve games... Don't they value this partnersh- Oh who am I kidding? Its EA. They aren't the brightest bunch, are they?

apple is suing samsung, samsung is suing apple. apple buys hardware from samsung, samsung sell them hardware. At the end of the day as long as their is money to be made they don't care

I've already accepted that BF3 isn't going to be on Steam. It's already been up for pre-order from every other digital distribution site. If it shows up on Steam it'll be a minor miracle and I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I stopped holding my breath for it showing up a long time ago now.

Yeah, between this, the removal of other titles, new titles not being offered, AND EA allowing you to transfer EA games from Steam to Origin makes it seem pretty clear what the plans are.
