PlanetSide 2 Officially Announced

Sony Online Entertainment has just revealed that PlanetSide 2 is indeed real and was revealed at SOE's "Fan Faire" event in Las Vegas.

The embargo on the title is starting to lift, so expect some new news shortly. The PlanetSide 2 site is up and running and includes an FAQ, a newsletter signup, a means to "Like" the PS2 page on Facebook, and some desktops.

Hmm. I loved the old PS when it was new, but everything I have seen about PS2 points to it being the same game on a new engine. And it feels very dated when playing it today, horrendous hitdetection etc, not the least because there are only one server globally. To be honest I expect it to be totally outclassed by BF3, especially if they expect it to be subscription based. Also: Sony. Does anybody feel safe investing time and money in one of their MMO-whatever? They have a nasty reputation for ruining games.
