Article: Duke Under Performs and Lowers Take-Two's Revenue Estimates

Unfortunately, Duke Nukem Forever has not performed as well as publisher Take-Two would have liked. It's actually done so poorly that the publishing giant had to lower its revenue estimates for the first quarter as a result. The loss? Roughly $25 million (USD).

The firm is now estimating Q1 revenues at $350 million, down from its initial estimate of $375 million, with Duke Nukem Forever sales estimated at 1.5 million versus initial estimates of 3 million. Those estimates are roughly in line with those made by Sterne Agee, which puts the game at 1.5 to 2 million.

Even with this loss, Take-Two is still set to have a profitable year also despite not releasing a new GTA title. L.A. Noire has actually exceeded sales expectations, going from an initial projection of 3.5 million units sold to 4 million units sold.

It is also expected that the company will take the lid off of Grand Theft Auto V some time during fiscal year 2013.

You can't release a horrible game like they did and expect it to do good. Who do they think they are...Activision?

Yeah, really. Im not surprised on how Duke turned out at all, but I am surprised that these guys think it was going to be this huge hit. The era of The Duke is gone.
