Release Date, Price, and Anti-Cheat Announced for Red Orchestra 2

Tripwire Interactive has just revealed the trifecta of good news today. The release date, the pricing, and the anti-cheat for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad have all just been revealed.

Red Orchestra 2 will hit retail shelves and Steam on August 30, 2011 at just $39.99 (USD). Yep, $40 for a full title that offers up both single player and a robust multiplayer experience. Go ahead, go hug Tripwire. But wait, there's more!

Tripwire also revealed their three pronged solution for cheating that incorporates VAC, PunkBuster, and PBBans.

Tripwire Interactive are also very excited to announce the selection of PunkBuster™ Anti-Cheat software and PBBans streaming ban support for the game. "With the selection of PunkBuster and PBBans in addition to VAC we're taking a three pronged approach to cheat protection for Red Orchestra 2," said John Gibson, Tripwire Interactive President. "We hope this sends a strong message to gamers that we take cheating very seriously and are tackling it head on BEFORE the game ships."

Red Orchestra 2 redefines the WWII shooter genre with unique and innovative gameplay including first person cover, immersive first person tank warfare, all new multiplayer gametypes including the multiplayer campaign mode, and unrivaled weaponry with systems such as full ballistics and suppression of enemies. Red Orchestra 2 also gives you the opportunity to fight through both the German attacks into the city and the Red Army's crushing reply in single player.

Good, I thought the game would be released much closer to BF3, which would have impacted more on sales.

Everything is really nice so far, it's a true PC game.

Same here, Mosin Nagant, K98, Lee Enfield are always my choice on WW2 games, when the first Call of Duty came out and started the whole Aim Down The Sight standard, those were my favorites weapons.

And when CoD United Offensive came out, I was the happiest man playing in Foy (My 2nd favorite MP map in any game) with my K98.

I wonder how three anti-cheats will work together. I'm definitely buying this game.

Wow now this is a real PC game, and it's only $40! This is one of those gems that don't sell as crazy as COD or BF but are fun to play for years.

As I saw, server admins can decide which ones they want to disable. Punkbuster will use PBBans and VAC will obviously keep on doing what it's doing for Unreal Engine 3 games on Steam.
