knife has 2 modes, quick knife and equippable knife....
they didnt explain what the difference is.

This was just explained in the "battlefield indepth Q/A" just streamed live an hour ago.
quick knife sounds to be just like BC2 knife. while the regular knife will be selectable in your 1-5 keys.
It sounds like quick knife will be able to be used to knife someone while your in the middle of changing weapons or reloading.
Also it sounded like you only get dogtags by knifing someone in the back.

The dogtag system sounds irrational.

What's the point of having a selectable knife when you have a quick knife? I'd love to see a weapon animation where you drop your slinged weapon and pull a knife when you select the knife then you can attack.

quick knives ruin CQB.

Depends if the quick knife is slower than knifing with your knife in your hand but faster than switchng to your knife. Otherwise it's the same speed there's no point to equip your knife, it will like BC2.

equipped knives should be able to be thrown. that would be the bomb.

knife both equippable and quick knife (but there is talk of being able to interrupt the quick knife somehow)

stabbing someone from behind is the only way to get their dogtags

stabbing someone from the front apparently requires 2 stabs, something more like CS, so no more bitches lunging you in the face yay

This isnt necessarily true, they might be running straight at you and pop off a few shots lowering your health then go for the stab. Still just as bad imo :/ I hate quicknife

yeh they could do that, but they could have still killed you if they were shooting if your health is that low

the annoying thing about the BC2 knife is, people use it when they shouldn't its a stupid alternative to shooting someone in the face, and people resort to it for an easy insta stab instead of using their gun

in BF3 it will be better because if getting shot, just resorting to the knife as an easy way out won't work and they will still get mowed, it should be more like a last resort weapon rather than something to hit at the start of a gunfight, which is what that situation describes

besides I also do not think the quick knife is as fast as the one in BC2 either, there was a lot of talk of it being easy to interrupt, so it won't be as effective imo
