Killstreaks and Perks Leaked for Modern Warfare 3's Multiplayer, No Dedicated Servers

What's that? Yet another leak of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 details? And you say that these are for the multiplayer perks and killstreak rewards? No way!

Yes way. Kotaku again got a ton of leaked information on the multiplayer killstreaks, rewards, and perks in Modern Warfare 3. Let's just get this out of the way now: The nukes are gone.

We also have some bad news for you. There won't be any dedicated servers. Surprised? You shouldn't be, especially after how much "effort" the studio sunk into the IW.net project for Modern Warfare 2.

Check out what other changes are in store for you. Keep in mind that there will not be a zombie mode in this game as that was a Treyarch creation for the series.

    Special Ops Mode
    - Two variations
    - About 12 maps between the following two variations:
    -- Survival/horde mode
    -- Mission mode

    Team Perks
    Stopping Power: Increased bullet damage.
    Blast Shield: Unclear
Health Regen: Regenerate health over time.
Stun Protection: Prevent stunning from flash grenades.

    New Perks
Blind Eye: This makes you immune to computer-controlled and player-controlled killstreaks. The pro version makes your launchers lock on faster and gives you extra bullet damage to vehicles.
Assassin: This makes you immune to UAV, thermal, and heartbeat sensors. The pro version also makes you immune to CUAV, EMP and no longer shows your name in red or the crosshair in red when you're targeted.
Point Guard: Every two assists count as a kill towards your killstreak.
Dead Silence: You make no noise.
Recon: Gives you a special kind of radar to spot enemies, most likely. We're not sure on this one.

    Current Known Killstreak Rewards
EMP Grenade: Temporarily takes out all area electronics.
    Littlebird: A tiny remote-controlled helicopter.
Precision Airstrike: Calls in an airstrike on a targeted area.
Stealth bomber: Calls in a B2 Spirit to carpet bomb along a line designated by the player.
Remote Turret: A remote controlled turret.
Directional UAV: A UAV that can be directed into areas to scan for enemies.
Remote Mortar: Direct a mortar team using a zoomable camera view of the map to call in strikes.
    Airdrop Trap: A booby-trapped airdrop.
Ammo Resupply: An ammo reloading airdrop.
    Escort Airdrop: A protected airdrop.
Spe******t Strike Package: This one remains a mystery to us.

As always, with leaks like this all of the information is subject to change or removal. There are apparently about 20 maps in development for the game's multiplayer, but it remains to be seen just how many of those will actually ship with the game and which will come as DLC later on.

It looks like Activision is starting to get pissed at all these leaks going on from IW, me thinks one of the handful that stayed behind is leaking this stuff. Also 402 confirmed in a tweet that the team perks are a no go, but he doesn't go into any other details.

@crecenteb There is no Stopping Power period. We also have no such thing as 'team perks'. All other #MW3 MP details remain undisclosed.

Lots of false #MW3 info being reported as fact. There is no Stopping Power, OMA, Commando, or Nukes. Beyond that, you’ll have to wait & see.

If you look throw some dev posts and some of the guys twitter accounts there is quite some activity debunking the Team Perks and Stopping Power (remember, they were pretty keen that it was gone once and for all).

That seals it for me. No more COD games for me, unless its done by Treyarh. That IW crap is what killed game for me and my clanmates. Lack of control of who you're playing with is un-acceptble.:shakehead:

gah... why can't they do something to piss off the Console crowd, maybe like adding a "complicated" server browser for them or something?

Amazing that they even bother with the PC port at all.

It was kinda a given that there wasn't going to be any dedicated servers.

For crying out loud, there was something similar said before BOps and it ended up meaning no public server files, the whole game server exclusive deal. A good part of this article has already been debunked, the other parts are still in development and there is still a half a year to go. E3 is just around the corner, we are finally going to get some more details, see the game in action, but we are going to have to sit tight as actual details get released over then next few months.

Again, a large part of that article has already been debunked.

I will say that we have already debunked much of that article. I encourage fans not to get too focused on speculation and wait for official confirmation."

402 is a mater spin doctor... I'm sorry to say it but it's his job to deny things like this, whether or not they're actually true or not.

It's not his fault, it's just what he has to do. So, I'm inclined to believe a lot of what was said in here, especially about the servers given how much IW hyped up their IW.net for MW2, they aren't about to just abandon that now.

I would just like to add something here, previously i couldn't care less about Treyarch, i mean since World at War i was upset. But when i first purchased BOps i was somewhat distraught by the huge lag at the menu but was also pleased to see a server browser.

So during the months and as the patches had come down, to me in my personal opinion i believe it showed that Treyarch cares about the community somewhat, as i have been playing nothing but Black Ops and BFBC2 the past months, and specially BOps at an alarming rate, i enjoyed adding 24/7 nuketown servers of which you cant do on consoles, the gaming community i see on PC servers that i favorited is great, always revive you when you are down, pleasant and fun people identical to those i see playing on my other favorited servers on BCBC2.

As well as the game has improved much since the first time i played it, lag is kept to a minimum, i can play smoothly, and its just been smooth sailing for me. so yeah after reading this article it upsets me what IW is doing, but as RangerXML had said about the debunking of some news i am hoping that they emulate Treyarch and include a server browser and possibly a higher player count? anyways i will end with this...time will tell.

Also in relation to IW and Treyarch i also believe that Black Ops in terms of MP is better. This is due to no host migrations that occur 5 times during a round, no 'finding best game to match' i.e. the existence of a server browser, as well as Treyarch patches its games...i have been trying to play the MW2 campaign the other day just to get a kick out of it as when i did the first time i bought the game but it kept on crashing, then the multiplayer kept on getting horrible with host migration, i feel it a lost game, as there seems to be no support to the title, it has just been left there to rot and dust up.

402 also said that MW2 would have dedicated servers up until one month before release. Anything coming out of his mouth should be disregarded completely.

And this wasn't ever said about Black Ops. Black Ops was confirmed to have dedicated servers rather early on in development.

No dedicated servers eh? I can't say that I didn't see that one coming from a few miles away.

I bet server hosts have been a little upset at the COD series. According to xfire: Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2, and Call of Duty 4 are still in the top 10 most played games. Imagine all the money being sucked away from servers for MW2 and BLOCKS!

Oh well, I'm sure this has already been discussed before. I'm probably beating a dead horse.

One should think that the whole design depended a lot on whether the server is dedicated or peer2peer.
So its not exactly confidence building that they consider it something that can be tacked on after all the important work (graphics) have been done.
