    Valve a No-Show at This Year's E3

Just came across my desk right now is word that Valve will not be showing off any of their titles at this year's E3.

This means that titles such as DOTA 2, the fabled Half-Life 2: Episode 3 or Half-Life 3, the rumored Counter-Strike 2, and other secret projects will not be on display next month. If nothing else, I honestly thought at least DOTA 2 would have been shown off. Insert a sad face here.

Perhaps they'll just verbally announce something instead. That's one way to keep optimistic, right?

Getting really tired of valve, i wish they would concentrate more on making good games rather than which hats to release next month and at what price.

Really? At least they acknowledge their shortcomings, making a (jokingly) big deal every time they have a hatless update. Personally I have heard very little about the hats... but you could argue that Im not following their every update...

I can not agree to that. I have just started playing TF2 again after a long break, and there has been added an enormous amount of content to the game since then. I cant think of any other non-subscription game that has so much added for free, at most they get a few map-packs.

apparantly hats have made the game crap, despite the fact that all they are are things which make headshots a bit more visible as a sniper. I personally thought the hats were a great Ideah, brought in a bit of colour to an already colourful game. If you don't obsess over them, then just ignore 'em. Thats what I do. I put one on when I get one but I dont go to trading servers to ***** about it.

Other than TF2, Portal (which was originally just a side project) and arguably L4D, Vavle for me personally havent released a good game since HL2 which was back in 2004, over 7 years ago. Their recent years have involved tarnishing the HL franchise by releasing episodes every 3 years and almost mocking the fans with their content and price. Producing an economy based around selling virtual hats that although may work for them greatly, really doesnt add anything to the gaming market and to those who arn't stupid enough to fall for it.

The fact that Vavle arn't showing anything at this years E3 just emphasizes the point that as of right now, they really have no interest to develop on some of their most successful previous franchises and are quite content with satisfying the needs of online hoarders.

Would you rather they did it the Activision way? We would be up to TF 117 by now.
Or maybe the EA way, with everything remotely resembling a shooter labeled as "Team Fortress"?

As far as I have seen, the trading aspect of TF2 can be completely ignored with no ill effects. You will quickly build a arsenal by just picking up stuff.
Unlike BF:H and very likely BFP4F, where there is a distinct advantage to spending cash.
The hats are silly, but if that keeps the game alive then I dont mind.

I think you just need a free hat to cheer you up

The difference is that Activision and EA dont solely produce games of that sort, they produce plenty of other quality games even if today they are few and far between. People always talk about broken promises from companies like those mentioned above and yet seem to regard Valve with a high sense of dignity. Yet this is the same company who turned their greatest franchise into episodic based content and then forgot to release the episodes...

I love playing TF2 dont get me wrong, its a great game, but for me personally it used to be a hell of a lot better. Playing it feels more like grinding for hats now.

Like I said, I find hats just another pretty object to look through my scope at... I can be a sniper whore sometimes. Let them grind. Gives me a better target... speaking of which, I need to start playing Hatfortress 2 again. Too many other games... not enough time...
