Modern Warfare 3 to Feature "Large, Destructible Environments"

Apparently taking a cue from Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2, reports are coming in that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will feature "large, urban destructible environments."

Modern Warfare 3 will likely continue the story set by Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 with Soap MacTavish and Captain Price. It is said to be of a "much larger, epic scale" compared to its predecessors.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see just how much larger and destructible this game proves to be.

I find it hard to believe that the destructible environments are going to be that large. They would basically have to completely overhaul the engine for that.

They never said to what degree that it'd be destructible. Just that the areas are going to be large COMMA with urban destructible environments. Etc.

Essentially, I still think BF3 will have the sort of destruction we're all wanting while MW3 will be ... "ehhh".

If the the SP was maybe around 10 hours and they added more elements to the MP like they talk about above then I might think about buying this one. Fool me once COD shame on you, fool me twice shame on me as the saying goes. Or something like that. Now going to go run 8 miles.

I might get it, play through the singleplayer to (hopefully) cap off the S. Mctavish story (which it probably wont), play a bit of multiplayer, get frustrated and then run my BF3 executable.

So they actually mean that Bf3 will be better? Otherwise they wouldn't need to use destruction wich is the thing thats really special in the new bf games. Maybe they will ad Veichles as well :dead:

lol, i bet in some years cod fanboys will be like "omg thiz fpz has deztruction! it copiez mw3! noobz!" . If we see things from that prespective then cod has been the one who has been copying battlefield. And if we also see from that prespective bf has been copying the first fps's like quake and wolfenstein and doom.

In my oppinion COD is going to have to do something to compete with BF3. And since IW Isnt made up of the same people then why not change the game up. I think mw3 will be a toatally different game.

Wow. I'm all for minimalistic design but this is just getting stupid now. I'm getting tired of just seeing some random soldier in some random pose, usually standing and looking down or off to the side with some weird graphical overlay effect like fire. The only reason I can see them still doing this is to go along with the other MW titles' box art.

                      It sucks. Stop it.

I agree. I expect most of the "destruction" will be scripted events and then other miscellaneous stuff like breakable windows and explodable barrels.

Its funny though... Battlefield 2 was the first one that did that... and dice didn't even do it with 2142...
