DICE Working on Mass Effect 3's Weapons

Well this is a bit of interesting news here. It seems as though, at least according to 4gamers.be (via G4), that DICE will be working on the weapons used in Mass Effect 3.

The details come from the latest issue of CHIEF, a gaming magazine from Belgium. DICE is working specifically on the guns of ME, focusing on the details of bullets in space. DICE took into account the distance a bullet can travel, the sound it makes and the environments it is fired in to. Both developers are under the wing of EA so it makes sense that they'd work together from time to time.

Given the gun play in recent Battlefield titles compared to that of Mass Effect 1 and 2, do you guys feel this is a worthwhile move for the developers?

At any rate, it will be quite interesting to see what DICE can do with futuristic space weapons.

I think they need to work on more varieties of armor before even considering weapons.

It seems to be that Bioware games have very little "selection when it comes to armor, case in point: DAO.

The article doesnt say WHEN they will be doing this, it just seems like bad timing after they spent all last month talking about how they cleaned their slates so they could focus on BF3 and increased the size of DICE so that every platform as the resources.

I mean who knows, maybe one DICE guy can whip out all the weapons in a week.

Given the size of DICE, I doubt there will be too many resources taken away. I'm guessing the guns and ballistics are already near complete for BF3 anyway.

If they have the same standard on the weapons and their sound as in Bad Company 2 Mass effect 3 will be good :)
