Games On Net Interview with Karl Troedsson

Courtesy of EA, games.on.net recently attended the Battlefield 3 launch event in San Fran. During the event we witnessed the same demo that has since been released online in video format, but more importantly we got to chat with Karl Magnus Troedsson, General Manager of Dice. During our discussion we talked about BF3's vehicle handling, why they've reintroduced prone and jets, their thoughts on sniper-fests, and more. Watch our video interview for the full scoop.

Click the above image to go to the source and see the full video interview. So do you think DICE has added jets and prone back because they are listening to the community? What are your thoughts on the idea of sniper balance?

Sniper balance? In BF2/2142 and you had hit scan instead of gravity+time travel of the bullet and the non-sniper classes didn't have the accuracy of BC2 yet no one was complaining, so really there's no problem. Add shake if you're hit like he said, muzzle flash to counter the bush hiding or vapor trail and you're done.

As for jets+prone coming back I think yes they were listening to the community (PC community) and knew they couldn't compete on the ground of CoD with the same formula.

You mean someone is making a Singleplayer that is actually sustainable? And its DICE? Woah... would have never seen that coming.

I also like what he said about making things easy to start with and giving them lots of depth and complexity.

I think BF3 will be a good game.

Today as in March 30th? I think so. But as it's just starting into the day, it'll be a little while.

Glad he didnt talk about nurfing snipers and it was some some good interview questions on prone n' such.

I dont want a Bf2 clone but i do want it to follow the big, epic formular.I have about 50% faith that it will be a BF game old BF vets will want:).I couldnt care a less for single player that will prob have a story like a bad film with lots of pretty CGI thrown in.

Well at least it will be more black hawk down and less red dawn/latest russian kill-em-up or something. I personally believe that it wont be anywhere near as cheesy as MW2.

I like the way he makes a reference to COD "treading water", although he doesn't mention their name.

Yeah, 12 hours seems really long for a heavily scripted game but not impossible. But most of the time if you listen to the devs the sp lenght is longer than it really is, if you're any good you can cut at least 20% of the time.
