Originally slated for release on a "firm" date of April 5, 2011 in North America, Epic Games and Microsoft are now reporting that Gear of War 3 has been pushed back.
Microsoft has apparently "elected" to delay the game until closer to the Holiday 2011 season. A spokesperson for Microsoft had this to say about the delay.
Time for more development time on the title or simply a delay to push it into a more lucrative purchase period? Nobody really knows for sure.

"Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011. The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the Spring of 2011. However, we've elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season."
