The NPD market research group has just released its sales analysis for the month of June. For the second month running, Red Dead Redemption topped the software sales across all platforms.
For hardware, the Nintendo DS kept a hold of the top position while the Xbox 360, spurred on by its slim unit, jumped up to the second position. This knocked down the former number two spot of the Nintendo Wii to third place.
While the figures look good on paper it should be known that during the same period one year ago, software sales are down. Hardware sales, however, have increased 35% from June of 2009. Also of note is the fact that the PlayStation 3 has enjoyed 11 consecutive months of year-over-year increases in sales.
However, June 2010's total sales (accessories, hardware, and software) are down a staggering 6% from June 2009.
Figures compiled from the NPD by VG247.
