The Medal of Honor beta for the PlayStation 3 and PC is currently underway for those who are Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIP owners and have pre-ordered. You can redeem your beta key here. If you do not have a beta key, you can get one by pre-ordering. Don't forget - the key you receive from the store needs to be redeemed at the website for a live code that will let you play the game. We are still working feverishly to get the Xbox 360 beta released and will keep all of you up-to-date on that. This is a true beta and your feedback will improve the game and help us deliver a great final product. You can leave your feedback by visiting our forums.

If this game were made by a different developer DICE would be slamming it left and right, if you look at interviews where they were asked what features differentiated Bad Company 2 over other games - Destructible Environments, Open Sandbox play, Squad system to promote teamwork, Mixed vehicle and infantry combat, Dedicated servers.

The only thing on par with MoH is the Dedicated server support.

MoH - Destructible Environments, Nope - you can break a window and make a barrel roll around.

MoH - Open Sandbox play, Nope - at least not in the two multiplayer modes shown so far. Small box map focused around a few buildings for Team Deathmatch and a narrow, corridor like map for a Team Rush mode renamed Combat Mission.

MoH - Squad system to promote teamwork, Nope - you only get a "Team" based spawn system, either to randomly placed at the front lines of combat or randomly placed slightly further back. In Team Deathmatch the spawn system is pack-rat based, tries to spawn you in where there is greater concentration of teammates.

MoH - Mixed vehicle and infantry combat, Nope - the Team Rush mode gives one vehicle to the attacking side but it's utterly pointless, and with no ability to repair is just a death trap, even more so than when you hop in one during a round of Squad Deathmatch in Bad Company 2.

What DICE should have done is created a mini expansion to Bad Company 2 that fit in with the MoH Afghanistan feel, by purchasing the full version of MoH you would get free access to Bad Company 2 plus this expansion. If you wanted to purchase the "MoH" expansion pack separately and skip out on MoH single player then they should have done that too. Give it a price of around $30 stand alone, something like 8 maps and a few new game modes.

If you own Bad Company 2 and you pre-order MoH you get early access.

Don't let the videos fool you though, these maps are small, much smaller than what is included in Bad Company 2.

I don't like it as much as I should. I would rather play BFBC2 and i'm bored with the maps!

The MP is done with the frostbite engine, so it's just like BFBC2 with MW2 gamestyle with medals, killstreaks etc.

I liked Modern Warfare, and even so Modern Warfare 2 .. but MW2 was very much so incomplete and unpolished.

I know many of the hardcore, and even so, mediocre fanboys of the BF series will say that MoH is a complete fail, however, this is DICE/EA trying to attack at the heart of InfinityWard/Modern Warfare franchise ... and that is by bringing the ball into their court and having a game style similar to theirs.

I have always felt that if DICE was to make a Modern Warfare type game, it would be much more enjoyable than InfinityWard. From what I have seen so far on YouTube of the Beta Videos, I think I am right. (IMO)

I already have my beta key, but currently on vacation in Myrtle Beach. Looking forward to jumping into the beta once I get back next weekend. It will be a pleasure having 2 completely different "feel" games by DICE so when one gets boring, I can play the other and hop back and forth.

I don't think they can tap that market though, people who are entrenched into playing CoD games want the fast fluid twitch shooter experience, that's not what's on offer here.

It feels different than Bad Company 2 but not close enough to a CoD game. The movement and gun handling is true to a DICE/Battlefield game experience, everything else has been stripped out though. I sort of get the feeling that they didn't put in any Destruction 2.0 stuff to try to keep they system specs as low as possible (and the frame rate as high as possible on the console), unfortunate as that would have set them apart from CoD games in a good way.

They'll fix bugs and probably add recoil to the weapons, the overall game design is set in stone though.

The lack of destruction from the Frostbite engine is disappointing, but isn't a deal breaker for me. It does make me wonder though if the MoH multiplayer is being rushed, and that is actually why they didn't include it .. so they wouldn't need to code it/animate it.
