A year after it was first apparently given the go ahead to be released, MechWarrior 4 Free has officially been given the green light to launch. No, really.
The legal tape has been cleared with Microsoft Games and we will soon be able to hop into our mechs of choice to partake of the classic gameplay that many know and love.
The release is slated to include the original game, all expansions, and MekTek's own modifications. Look for news of its 'imminent' release soon.
In related news, Piranha Games and Microsoft Games are gearing up for a series reboot on the Xbox 360 and PC. The upcoming title will be powered by Unreal Engine 3.

A few weeks ago we stuck our neck out and announced that our studio was struggling to see this release through to the end. We also released our MekPak 3.1, through our distribution and patching system MTX, which gave our developers an opportunity evaluate any unknown bugs.
