In what may sound like a horrible April Fools joke, it was revealed that if things had gone according to plan, the 3D Realms developed Duke Nukem Forever would have been announced as going Gold today. Former producer on the game, Jason Bergman (formerly at 2K Games, a Take-Two subsidiary), made the following comments by way of his twitter.
Bergman reconfirmed that it isn't an April Fools joke by way of a Shacknews comment. If legal issues and a removal of funding didn't effectively kill Duke Nukem Forever, the announcement to beat all announcements may have very well been made today.
MOMENT OF SILENCE PLEASE: by the 3DR/TTWO development schedule, April 1st, 2010 was supposed to be the day Duke Nukem Forever went gold.
