EA Expands Battlefield: Bad Company 2 With Extra Multiplayer Content

    This just in from EA
DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ:ERTS), today announced that two massive, all-new multiplayer maps for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be unlocked on March 2nd when the game launches in North America. This map pack features the Laguna Alta map playable in Conquest mode and Nelson Bay map playable in Rush mode, bringing the total number of multiplayer maps up to 10. Later in March, DICE will release yet another map pack at no extra charge*, giving players a chance to experience the Arica Harbor map in Conquest mode and Laguna Presa map in Rush mode. Available in the box, the content packs are unlocked by simply inputting a VIP code**.

“Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will redefine online modern warfare on March 2. We are deeply committed to the FPS community and Battlefield fans worldwide,” said Patrick Bach, Senior Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2. “These first two map packs are just the beginning. We’re planning ongoing support for the community by always keeping the experience fresh and ensuring the best possible gameplay experience.”

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is setting a new standard for action games with the quality of its highly detailed, war-torn landscapes and massive, destructible environments. The game’s tactical destruction shakes up the gameplay delivering epic battles never before seen in a modern warfare game.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be in stores on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 4, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and the PC. The Limited Edition of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 can be pre-ordered now on all platforms at no extra cost, with participating retailers worldwide (while supplies last).

** VIP codes included in the shrink-wrapped box. Those players that do not have a code can purchase one via the in-game store for $15. PC players will get the content as a game update. Internet connection required.

Don't forget, there's still a few days left to pre-order a server from MyInternetServices.com. Pre-ordering ensures day one availability of your server, plus you have the lovely 15% pre-order discount on each server slot, plus you're entered into a random drawing to win an Intel i7-920 CPU! It's really a win-win situation all around there.

To be honest I am not much impressed by day 1 DLC, even if its free. It looks too much like something that would have been included in the game if it wasn't for EA´s war on second-hand games.

The interesting thing is how much free DLC we will get after release.

That's what caught my attention. This game might turn out to be more epic than we all thought it would be... I have a feeling...

I assume those of us who buy the game through Steam will just automatically download them?

It hurts less to buy DLC if the first one was free.

Old trick from the advertising industry (you all should know those tricks, they are around for like 70 years now).

All those fanboys yelling THANKS DICE did the same when BIS released the ArmA ******** and when Codemasters released the even more fail OFPDR ********.

I completely dont care and dont want all the WWII stuff (1911,Thomson,Garant,etc) as well as maps like Wake Island,Karkand or de-dust. xD

Like Scinto said : I hope they keep map packs free and leave the rest to be paid for, works so much better that way.

Let the kids have their fancy MW2 style camo on guns for extra $$$ but dont split the community again.

Cool. In the future I hope they will release the T-80UD or T-55 or something like that. Not to likely though I guess.

The only reason this isn't in the game at retail is because EA are trying to make a profit from second hand console sales.

That said I hope they do bring out a lot of free DLC. :p

They're gone and the press release is a bit better formatted now.

I have no problem with them profiting from the 2nd hand market. The 2nd hand companies are to blame for this as they kept 100% profit. What will happen now though is this game won't drop in price after 6 months as it will always include the $15 cut from the 2nd hand sales. It will be interesting to see how they respond when they come to sell 2nd hand versions. Will they make peeps aware they have to pay $15 to get more than 8 maps?
