Honestly I wouldn't mind if we never got 1943 or even MoH. That is if they spent the time working on an exclusive PC BF3 instead then who cares about getting a mediocre port.

I don't even think anyone is going to buy 1943 because of BC2 being released before it. I know I wont. That's whats starting to worrying me. If they release 1943 on PC after BC2 and see no one is buying it their marketing team will look at the sales and say "Looks like the PC community sales are low we better make BF3 for consoles".

BF2 is really far from being a flawless game, it can be done so much better.

QFT. In my eyes, BF2/2142 had huge potential and some great ideas, but the execution was lacking. New engine and graphics + destruction + traditional Battlefield-style large maps + all the things DICE has learned from from 2, 2142, and BC2 would make a truly epic BF3.

Dynamic weather based on location would take a lot of computing power and could get annoying for people who, like The_Eliminator said, always play at night.

Who says day/night had to be based on real life time? It could be completely optional and have a server setting to control what times are day and night.

I wouldn't mind seeing BF2 reworked in a better engine. Most, if not all, of my complaints with that game center around the way the engine works online. If the hitboxes lined up with the models in that game, I'd still be playing it right now.
I still jump in from time to time. But then I leave after I see that I have to shoot 2 feet BEHIND a moving soldier or 20 feet BEHIND a moving helicopter to register a hit. 17ms should feel almost like a LAN, not some strange guessing game. :rawr

But the weapons, maps, and vehicles were all great. As a concept, it was an awesome game. The technical execution was just... flawed.

I cant agree with you more, 2142 was mostly not that great because it lacked in power, and its execution left much to be desired, but with Frostbite, it could really be incredible.

I like the idea of dynamic weather as to where you live but imagine if you only ever had time to play at night, the maps would get very boring in the dark all the time, and the amounts of data needed by every game to pull the weather stats would be huge, it just wouldn't be reasonable.

This could be an option to be set on a server. Let the app on the server check the systems date/time and check a local weather service. Then have it pick out values and description strings such as temperature, wind speed, 'sunny' or 'partly cloudy', etc. The game could have a script that sends a configuration script to the client so it can apply that weather type and time of day.

This would solve issues like only playing at night (as various, non-ranked servers will be scattered globally) and the data needed would kept at a minimum, since its the client that would render the weather scenario visually, not the server. Also, since its getting its information from a local weather service, a single server wouldn't be necessary.

Thats not how it works... lol. There is plenty of cover even if most things are destructible, you just have to be smart.
