Look up the most popular and highest selling game and im sure you will find "1942 " and "BF2" up their!!how can they say it doesnt make money

This is how they will repay us for making Battlefield popular( always remember it was born on PC)

Oh and i wish you consolers had a different forum because you have everything and why should you complain!I am suprized you even have a keyboard on consoles to even post on here?or do you use a PC lol

I will nevarghhh! get a console ,first the are noobed down games and second they have stolen all the glory PCs once had.

Having different game machines is cool but once they start to tread on my toes i dont like that! Can we get grand turismo on PC in return?no!

the future of gaming is download only trust me and then bam! pay to play!help me make a stand?
1942, March 15, 2004 - 3 million copies sold, BF1942's sequel, Battlefield Vietnam released, Lets assume each copy is sold for 50 dollars (Because I don't actually know where that data is on how much 1942 made) which is 150 million! Within 2 years of course.

Halo 3 grossed US$300 million in its first week. The first week. And this is a console only game. I'm not entirely sure that 1942 is the most popular game anymore.

Face it, Rambo. You're the minority of gaming, I too love PC gaming but I also see where it's going. And please don't say PC gaming is far superior either, your average player probably has a very mediocre pc (We're referring to BF2 at the moment) and probably doesn't know how to manually delete a virus, nor install parts into his PC which is the cheapest way to upgrade. But most since they don't know how don't want to spend 2000 dollars on a "gaming" pc in order to keep up with the times.

Not only that, but by the time you buy your...Lets say a guy goes and buys an X2 4870 (or dual 295 for that matter), within a year and a half it'll be outdated (More then likely, seeing as how PC devs make their game as requiring as possible most of the time). The 360 came out in 2005. It may be out dated but Microsoft doesn't care and neither do companies, because people will keep buying it until eventually the Microsoft CEOs and all that decide that they want to make the XBox 720 or what the hell ever.

With the 360/PS3. You plug it in, you go. you have fun. And you don't have abusive server admins banning you for killing them. Similar situations are prevalent in 2142 and bf2 servers. The most prevalent one being the SWAT server in 2142 which goes so far as to say YOU CANNOT use what you pay for. (You are not allowed to use APMs) or you get removed.

What I'm getting at is, PC gaming is fun and my preferred method but I do not bias myself because of it, I see exactly why console gamers are becoming the future. You should too.

So true (Tho it should be accept not except :p). I think all these players who say they need to make it PC only so its "better" or "perfect" will be the same players complaining about it when its released because its got elements from the console games.

BF will never be the perfect image you have for it in your head. You PC players need to accept that gaming is now incredibly popular and consoles and that more and more developers are looking at or already making multiplatform games and no matter how much you complain this isnt going to change. Also just because a game is on a consoles doesn't automatically make a game worse or cut down. There are many console games that are equal to or better than their PC counterparts.

I used to be agains't playing FPS on consoles because of using a controller for aiming, but after a while its not as bad as you think. You have a nice big TV to play on (Maybe not as high res as your monitor but its still nice playing on a big screen), a comfy couch to sit on, easy access to games, an even playing field as all consoles are the same hardware and no bad admins. Also more of my friends have consoles than gaming PC's so I'm able to play with them online on a console where as when I was playing on PC I generally played with people I met online (which is not necessarily a bad thing its just good fun when you play with your mates you've known for a long time.)

I think BC2 will be the first of many multiplatform games from DICE, which hopefully will make them more money than just a console or PC release. The more money they make the more games we'll get in the future so this can't be a bad thing.

Re: Rumor: Battlefield 3 to go Multi-Platform

Okay, lets stop dancing around the REAL issue here! If DICE/EA decide to release BF3 on console, here is what will happen…

BF3 will be designed and engineered from a console requirement from the start. Yes, I mean things like 32 players, map size, number of vehicles, placement of the onscreen information displays and so on.

THEN they will simply sell the dumbed down version as BF3 for the PC.

There is not much joy in a missed opportunity to enjoy what could be a GREAT PC game only to find it has been cut at the knees so that it could be sold as a console version.
In addition, we all know that there is much money to be made by selling a console version of BF3. There is no doubt about that here.
And yes, I know this is what some think.. :soapbox:

But that is why I love Total Battlefield! We can say how we feel about BF here. Thanks TGN & TB. :salute:

Please tell me where it says that console requirements have to be small map sizes, 32 players, etc. Have you played MAG on the PS3? OK the graphics aren't the best but its 256 players and massive maps so I'm afraid thats not true. If DICE wanted they could increase any of these but thats up to them and how good the engine they make for BF3 is (If they don't use Frostbite).

Also saying that there will be a "Dumbed down" version for PC is a bit of a vague statement that a lot of people seem to make on here. What does this actually mean? Just because you don't have a keyboard and mouse its automatically dumbed down?? Someone please enlighten me.

It's fairly obvious by the reduction of classes, reduction of squad sizes, removal of prone and the commander. And these are just from the top of my head.

Take a look at these two PC-exclusive games.

BF2142 : 4 classes (And much better classes IMHO)
BF:Heroes: 3 classes, no commander, no squads.

So you cant blame the consoles for that.

I resent that. BF2142 was no less of a game than BF2.

But besides that, it sounds very promising.

                  Actually, you can.
                  A) BF2142 has 4 DIRECTIONS, not classes. The individual customization makes the term "classes" inappropriate. The game is still dumbed down significantly and is pretty much "Battlefield: Wasted Potential In Creatively Free Environment" but its a PC platform. Meaning, its a complex game full of options.
                  B) BF: Heroes is made for a "casual gamer" where simplicity and straightforward intuitive logic of someone who doesnt spend thousands of hours of his free time on gaming, could pick up and play.

                  -

BF3 going multiplatform is a colossal loss to a PC gamer. Instead of creating a feature- and gameplay rich game, we are regressing to a game of comfort. Of course, the average PC gamer has shown hes fully able to adapt, as witnessed in the "lobbies" in MW2. Some of the behaviour and just mindboggling stupidity Ive seen can directly be backtracked to the "comfortable massmedia gaming culture" trend.

Its 2010, my favourite multiplayer game is 6 years old.

Well, that is your opinion and you are unlikely to change it.
I think you and others with that mindset is losing out. The rest of us will adapt to new games and enjoy them, while you will be stuck in BF2. But to each his own.

As for classes, by that logic BC2 (and heroes) also have lots of directions.

Btw, the article indicates that multiplatform means Windows and Mac, at those are the only ones mentioned.

You seem to believe that I have a similar "mindset" to those who were constantly complaining about how "futuristic Battlefield is gay". My reasons for BF2142 being an utter disappointment and a collection of completely wasted potential and waste of creative freedom are almost all well argumented and with specific reasons. They date back all the way to the Beta and the Demo. In short, in vanilla state BF2 is superior to BF2142, when we take POE2 mod into consideration, a modification which pretty much balances every aspect of the game out completely, while maintaining the same BF2 gameplay and speed, the gaping hole becomes even larger. Almost all of the gameplay elements in BF2142 were taken directly from the wishes of the vocal minority of infantry players in BF2. Since 2007, Ive held a vocal position that DICE are incompetent, and they have yet to prove me wrong.

The rest of us will adapt to new games and enjoy them, while you will be stuck in BF2. But to each his own.
                      BF2 came out in 2005 :P

What I meant is that youre not limited to the 4 "classes", but through those 4 initial choices your loadouts start to branch out.

Btw, the article indicates that multiplatform means Windows and Mac, at those are the only ones mentioned.
If you think that when it comes down to the real deal, that these are the only platforms people are talking about then youre either just teasing or naive.

And jets, and 6 player squads, and commanders and an evolution of or for many features introduced by BF2142 and BF2.

i'm pretty sure jets will come back in BF3 in a more balanced form. as far as player limits 64 man might be PC exclusive, but i'm not sure they're willing to do the extra work for the PC version (we all know what happened to 1943).

By balanced, do you mean "BF2142 balanced" or "POE2 balanced", because one is done by a mod crew and was fantastic and the other was done by the developers and it was just a colossal letdown. BF3 will be a similar crossroad for BF fans as MW2 was for COD fans, no doubt about it. And I feel that BC2 success will have the biggest impact on whatever they are deciding next.

it can't be 2142 balanced, as the solution there was total removal of jets. i haven't played POE2 so i can't comment. but what i meant was they'll likely limit the dominance of jets, or aircrafts for that matter. console boys aren't going to be happy with an punishing & unforgiving air dominance of BF2. BF is headed towards balance, as prone removal shows. for starters, they can do things like no re-arm or requiring landing to rearm, and a more robust AA (infantry AA weapon?) to counter it. i don't expect air rapage of BF2 to come back for a game that's also being made for the masses (consoles).
