My favorite reason is because the CDs have to cross the oceans

Other then that, I believe the reason has to do with marketing data. Someone a very long time ago posted about how Tuesdays are the ideal days to release in the US and Cananda, but in Europe this is not the case due to some strange reason and Fridays are the better day there. I tend to believe that one more than the others.

There was one game that was released first in Australia and then to the US/Canada, still Friday/Tuesday, and man the cry babies came out in droves that week, let me tell you.

At least half of those kills and headshots belong to me. I know, I know. You'd brag to.

My question is 3.5 million enough? Is that just the DEMO stat? What about the BETA numbers?
Does that make it a hit?

I donot know about marketing or projected sales or anything like that. Just curious thats all.
I guess I'd like to buy a real winner this time. The 'other' two games I bought, (that I thought would be winners) are really nice coasters. LOL

These numbers are great. Even if we consider for a second that everyone being connected to the internet and word being passed around much more these days, 3.5 million is a fantastic figure. Beta numbers do not reflect sales, as these are numbers from more dedicated gamers. Besides, not everyone who wanted a key, got it. Youd have to go through some channels (website, forum, know-someon-who-knows-someone).

Take this into consideration. The number of servers for both BF2 and BF2142 was tenfold smaller (at least) compared to retail server count, not even going to the difference between player count.

I think this one sounds true:
Europe is later, because our Charts week start counting on a Friday -> which means that if it came out on a tuesday, there would only be 2 days worth of sales counted

And Games companies like to give the chart position in the first week to shareholders etc
Of course the rational thing would be to release it earlier in Europe, e.g. yesterday
