    Project Reality Mod v0.9 Released

The Project Reality Studios and Black Sand Studios teams are beyond thrilled to announce the release of Project Reality v0.9, an updated version of the popular Battlefield 2 modification.

Version 0.9 weighs in at roughly 3.5GB for a download. The download is so large that the mod team had to split the file up into two parts. The latest release introduces new factions, new vehicles, eight new maps, a ton of gameplay updates, tweaks, and fixes.

    This update rocks!

There's a few things that need to be fixed such as map balancing and other things but in general it's perfect!

Not really. Our community is extremely happy with the outcome of the server license because if it wasn't for that, PR wouldn't be around today since it would have just been destroyed by server-side modding, which was starting to happen in the v0.5 release iirc where servers where changing the spawn times of vehicles, changing gameplay mechanics and many other things which was simply turning PR into vBF2 with new maps and more powerful weapons, which is not what we wanted it to be and not what our main community wanted to happen either.

Dont say it is just some gay control thing because even some of POE2's devs who thought it was a really bad idea for us to do what we where doing, later experienced server admins destroying there maps with what they where doing and one of the reasons why POE2 shut down afaik (thou not the main reason).

We dont spend countless hrs working on this mod just for some server admin to come along, take our work and with one fell swoop, destroy all our hard work. Our message for thous server admins who want to do that is if your not happy with our mod, make your own.

To run an online dedicated server yes.

It's like applying for a ranked BF2 server, you have to have a license to ensure your server is running the settings that were intended.

Applying is free and easy, there's currently 130 online servers running.

Not really, with BF2 ranked servers, your server reports to the EA stats servers and some base rules and settings are needed to keep the stats consistent and fair. You can get an unranked server and do whatever you want with it (like run PR for example). PR just does it to keep stuff how they want it.

Which all in all is basically the same thing and we also do allow server admins to edit there settings etc, providing the server is passworded.

You can download the BF2 server files and run/rent an unranked with whatever modifications you want. PR keeps the server files private. Not the same thing.

Dude we know all that, we didn't say it was entirely or exactly the same thing. We're just referring to the licensing = standardized settings part.

Yes, I know that the goal of both systems is to standardize settings, I'm just saying that the PR system is a lot more restricted than vanilla BF2's.

Well I'm glad we both told each other what we already knew.

Under 30% server capacity during peak time:

I really like the new content and that more SP options are available. I sure wish all the maps had bot support because it's tough to find a good game. For me BF2 = SP since MP was killed off a year ago with all the hacking, spoofing and other shenanigans. I've put together my own personal SP mod so I can still enjoy the game, but I'm looking to get back into MP with BFBC2!

Job well done with the update! The Canadian forces vehicles are sweet (LAV-3 anyone?) and I love the new trucks, etc.
